Why does the printing industry need humidification?

In the process of printing, sometimes the paper or printed matter will adsorb and stick together, as if the paper surface has a strong vacuum suction, which is difficult to separate. This phenomenon is called printing static electricity. In the dry winter, the static electricity of printing paper is particularly prominent, which may cause obstacles to paper feeding, receiving and finishing, or may cause problems such as automatic paper feeding or frequent occurrence of double sheets, empty sheets, disordered paper receiving, increased loss, etc., both reducing production efficiency and affecting product quality.

Reasons for the easy occurrence of static electricity in paper:

First, the papermaking process is not suitable. That is, in the paper making process, due to the low content of electrolytes (alum, sodium chloride, etc.) and excessive content of sizing materials (kaolin, etc.), the paper is subject to high temperature and pressure during drying and calendering, which makes the paper carry high voltage static electricity.

Second, the paper is improperly stored. For example, when there is a large difference between the temperature of the paper cart and that of the printing workshop, the variation of the moisture content of the paper will not cause the expansion change to affect the standard, and it is easy to cause static electricity, which will bring inconvenience to the printing. In addition, the paper placement time before printing is too short, or the stacking is too high, which makes the paper and the printing environment temperature lack effective balance time, causing the paper to carry static electricity.

Third, static electricity is caused by printing friction. When the water content of the paper is obviously low, the paper will be too dry. During the printing process, due to the friction and pressure of paper feeding and embossing, the gain and loss of electrons outside the paper nucleus will occur, making the paper electrostatic.
